On a beautiful November 22 day I had lunch outside in the heated patio area. It was so perfectly comfortable. We had a variety of appetizers one better than the other. My personal choice was the octopus. A close second is the calamari. We also had a main dish of halibut that was perfectly cooked. The dessert was a coconut ice cream over a heated cookie that was so good I had to eat it all. Our service was attentive, professional, and extremely personable. What pleasure it was to be on the water the week before Thanksgiving.
If I could rate our experience as 6 stars, I would. Our dinner at Tuscan Sea Grill and Bar in Newburyport was absolutely exceptional. The atmosphere, with its riverfront view, set the perfect scene for a memorable meal. We began with the crab cake appetizer, and it was outstanding--lightly crisped on the outside but full of fresh lump crab on the inside. I've had A LOT of crab cakes during our travels. I can confidently say, this was the best one I've ever had. Everything about it was perfect, including the complimentary Calabrian aioli. In fact, I almost ordered another one, but I knew an amazing entree was already on its way. For our main course, we chose the filet mignon, an 8oz center cut cooked to absolute perfection. The steak was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, each bite enhanced by the rich truffle butter. The sides were delicious, and perfectly paired. The mascarpone mashed potatoes were creamy and decadent, with just the right hint of richness; the roasted mushrooms brought a savory, earthy element to the dish; and the asparagus were tender and perfectly seasoned. The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel like valued guests. Tuscan Sea Grill and Bar has truly mastered the balance of a relaxed coastal ambiance with high-end dining. This was a meal to remember! Very rarely do I say that a restaurant is worth traveling to, but if you're within a few hours of Newburyport, this is worth the trip!
I did not expect to give this place 5 stars, it's pricey and the menu doesn't have much variety, and is not vegetarian friendly. However, every dish we ordered was excellent, the service was quick and personable, and the ambience can't be beat. The bread for the table had seasoning and olive oil, was perfectly warm and fluffy. Wish they brought more! The rolls each were about the size of a large orange. Worth paying actual money for. The pear and blue cheese flatbread is a must. The portion was tremendous, enough for two to split with a side for a meal. This was my lunch. The blue cheese is not overwhelming and the balsamic adds a nice touch. The arugula was not too biting either, and the cheese was clearly hand shredded. The lobster roll mkt price was 45$ (Sunday lunch 7/21) not too mayo-y and the roll was a more toasted version of the table bread. Nice big chunks. Sizable roll too. Great view of the harbor and a duck even swam by!
This place has one of the best views in Newburyport. We've eaten here dozens of times since they opened. Our latest visit was on the evening of July 3rd. The food, wine and service were all very good. It's a popular place so book a reservation or be prepared to wait. They offer a large menu, we started with 12 oysters and 6 cocktail shrimp Very cold and fresh. Excellent. She had the scallops. I tried one, they were large, sweet and a perfect temperature. After the raw bar apps and some wine I was pretty much done and so bordered the burrata. The cheese was exceptional, not loving the choice of cherry tomatoes though but it's a small issue. Overall very good.
Came here sour if the moment with friends. Hubby and I got lobster rolls because we're in Boston after all, and the portions were generous and tasty. Our friends got poke bowl and a sushi roll. The poke bowl was disappointing, and the sushi roll good but not outstanding. Great venue on the water though!
Tuscan Sea Grill in Newburyport delivers again! This is one of the best bar scenes on the north shore ... it starts with the bar staff, where the tenders are energetic, efficient, & positive with consistent & expansive conversation! The ambiance is bright, airy, and edgy with some style points for the light stone bar & views of the water. I think Melissa, Jay, & company may deserve a raise because this is the main reason half of Nbpt shows up on a regular basis! They do a great job servicing any/all patrons & we can't wait to come back ... again & again!
